What NYCCAL Is

​NYCCAL is a coalition of adult literacy and education organizations working together to strengthen access to English classes, high school equivalency prep, digital literacy, and immigrant services across NYC.
We are:
  • Teachers
  • Administrators
  • ​Counselors or Case Workers
  • Program Managers
  • Policy Analysts
We also focused our efforts by organizing our own committees:
  • Advocacy
  • Provider Concerns
  • ​HSE/GED
  • Social Media/Communications
  • Funder Review
  • Digital Inclusion

What NYCCAL Does

  • Advocates for city and state funding for adult literacy.
  • Shares resources and training across programs.
  • Coordinates messaging and social media campaigns.
  • Helps member organizations collaborate on events and outreach.
  • Educates policymakers and the public about adult learners’ needs.

How to Participate

  • Attend NYCCAL’s monthly coalition meetings.
  • Join a working group when relevant (Advocacy, Data, Communications, etc.).
  • Tag or email NYCCAL to share your program’s events or achievements.
  • Join citywide campaigns such as Digital Inclusion Week or Advocacy Day.
  • Share program stories that highlight learner voices and community impact.
